Secret Power

Here is an excerpt from the book Secret Power by D.L. Moody. It speaks volumes to how I desire to live.

“In the second century, a martyr was brought before a king, and the king demanded him to recant and give up Christ and Christianity. But the man spurned the proposition. The king said, ‘If you don’t do it, I will banish you.’

The man smile and answered, ‘You can’t banish me from Christ, how He says He will never leave me more forsake me.’ (See Hebrews 13:5.)

The king became angry. ‘Well,’ he said, ‘I will confiscate your property and take it all from you.’

And the man replied, ‘My treasures are laid up on high; you cannot get them.’ (See Matthew 6:20.)

The king became still angrier, saying, ‘I will kill you.”

‘Why,’ the man answered, ‘I have been dead for forty years; I have been dead with Christ, dead to the world, and my life is hidden with Christ in God. You cannot touch it.’” (See Colossians 3:3.)
